10 Black-Owned Candle Brands That You'll Absolutely Love
I’m literally giddy right now because I’m so excited to write this.
I absolutely love candles and have always enjoyed the luxury of lighting scents to set the mood to whatever I’m feeling: cozy… peaceful… serene… you name it!
But ever since I found out that my beloved candles were actually releasing toxins into the air, I reluctantly tucked them away and have been on the hunt for some non-toxic options.
I thought this would be the perfect opportunity to support my fellow Black business owners, and find some great non-toxic candles so my home can once again smell amazing again.
(Because chile, it’s a struggle to not just light up a BBW candle out of convenience).
Most of the candles I selected are non-toxic, made from coconut and soy wax, and have an amazing ambiance that will have your home feeling both serene and peaceful!
It gives me peace of mind to know that the scents in my home are no longer harming my body, especially when I’m lighting candles that are made with love, care, and black girl magic.

I stumbled upon Alexandra Winbrush’s candles on Instagram and instantly fell in love! These candles are both beautiful to the eye and to the soul, with endearing names and poetic descriptions scrawled on the glass that speak to you like summer love songs. The candles are made out of a soy wax blend cased in beautiful glass to match. Founded in Brooklyn, NY by Brittney Alexandra Winbush, the brand has an incredible story with even more incredible victories. And we are totally here for it.
Rebourne Body and Soul Candles
Rebourne Body and Soul candles are beautifully handcrafted in a home to be enjoyed in yours. These candles are an all-natural brand that use 100% soy wax and cotton wicks that don’t contain any lead. The founder has an incredible story in which she re-found herself in creativity and candle-making after a burn accident in 2016. Now she spends her time giving back to these candles so that she can help others transform their space and mind as she once did. My wallet? Take it all.

Laguna Candles is a beautifully unique candle brand that aims to create a clean burning ambiance for your home. They have a ceramic candle collection that is absolutely stunning, with intricate marble patterns that can serve as incredible decor. Air In Candles are beautiful candles that are absolutely perfect for your home. Hand-poured in Chicago, IL, the candles support clean living and are made out of 100% all-natural soy wax. The creator of this brand, Aryn Terry, founded Air In Candles, after years and years of lighting her own in the name of self-care. Creating a toxin-free experience was very important to her, which is why she chooses to focus on all-natural soy waxes and lead-free wicks. A true queen! We stan.

Unlax Candles is a brand inspired by self-care therapy to help you unwind and relax. The candles are all-natural and made out of 100% natural soy wax. For Kay, the creator of Unlax, candle making has always been close to her heart and important in helping with her anxiety. Since it was the candle’s flame that helped to soothe her soul, reduce stress and increase self-awareness, her mission is to create candles that can serve as that for others. A true heart of gold and a candle full of goodness.
Southern Elegance Candle Co.
Southern Elegance Co. is a one of a kind candle brand that seek it’s inspiration from nature. The candles are made out of a soy wax blend and made with cotton wicks that don’t contain any lead. Each candle fragrance is inspired by nature or a city such as the Appalachian trail, or Nashville’s honeysuckle flowers. They do a great job of breaking down each fragrance and have such an incredible story behind the brand. A must-buy!

Goodnight Darling Co. creates beautiful non-toxic 100% soy candles that are perfect for your home. Their candles are made with a nice wooden wick (lead-free!) and designed to help you relax and sleep, with a mission to stay well, stay happy, and stay healthy. Blk and Grn is a 100% all natural black artisan marketplace where people can sell their goods for others to buy online. This candle is sold through Blk and Grn by the company Choiselle. It’s an organic candle made with coconut wax and essential oils! Sounds like heaven in a candle holder. *heart eyes*

Copper Wings Candle Co. is a gorgeous candle brand that started in Waukesha, WI. The brand came to existence after the founder saw a friend post about an unfortunate event that she experienced burning a candle in her home. That then, gave the founder the idea to look into the process of how candles are made. After determining that a clean, healthy lifestyle is what she strives for, she created a non-toxic candle made with better elements. So awesome!

Posh Candle Co. are definitely a fan favorite. These candles seek to inspire women to be their authentic selves by using catchy phrases and statements on the glass that encourage a positive mindset, self-love, and an abundance of laughter.
