9 Life-Giving Statements for When You Feel Anxious
I think we can all agree that we are in a very vulnerable season right now. Whether you’re worried about your physical or mental health, your job status and finances, or struggling with loneliness — anxiety has a way of creeping in our lives like a thief and stealing our peace.
I thought it would be helpful to share some encouragement for anyone that may be struggling with anxious or fearful thoughts. I based all of these life-giving statements off of scriptures that have lifted me up in some of my darkest moments.
I hope you enjoy and feel free to pass it along to someone who may need it.
9 Life-giving Statements for When You’re Feeling Anxious
I am not alone
“So, do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous hand.” — Isaiah 41:10
my cries are heard
“I waited patiently for the Lord, and he turned to me and heard my cry for help. He brought me up from a desolate pit, out of the muddy clay, and set my feet on a rock, making my steps secure. He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God.” — Psalms 40:1-3
“He heals the brokenhearted and bandages their wounds.” — Psalm 147:3
worrying does nothing for me
“And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his life span?” – Luke 12:25
Therefore, don’t worry about tomorrow, because tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own. — Matthew 6:34
God is stronger than my deepest fears
“For I am the Lord your God who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, do not fear; I will help you.” — Isaiah 41:13
anxiety does not have control over me
“For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but one of power, love, and a sound mind.” — 2 Timothy 1:7
anxiety cannot separate me from God’s perfect love
“For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” — Romans 8:38 - 39
i am not designed to carry my worries alone
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, through prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.” — Philippians 4:6
“Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” — Matthew 11:28-30
Peace is a gift that I can receive at any time
“Peace I leave with you, my peace I give to you. Not like the world gives. So, do not let your hearts be troubled, and do not be afraid.” — John 14:27
I am surrounded by people who love and encourage me
“An anxious heart weighs a man down, but a kind word cheers him up.” — Proverbs 12:25
And lastly,
God will replace my anxiety with His joy
“When anxiety was great within me, your comfort brought me joy.” — Psalm 94:19

A Prayer for When You’re Anxious
Thank you, Lord, for allowing us to come to You in the midst of chaos. Thank you for being our Rock – stable, steady, and unmoving. And thank you for being our Strength – willful, sound, and all powerful. I ask that you replace our anxiety with your perfect peace. And give us grace to feel your joy. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
